The Secondary Team is for pupils aged 11 to 14. There are three classes, M1, M2 and M3 where pupils are grouped by their age and needs. M1 is for pupils who require a high level of support to meet their complex learning, physical, sensory and medical needs. The other 2 classes are for pupils who have severe or moderate learning difficulties combined with ASD or other diagnoses such as Down’s syndrome.
Each class in the Secondary Team has on average 8 pupils, a teacher and at least 2 teaching assistants. There are also 3 Personal Care Assistants and a Health Care Assistant working across the team. Sometimes a student may move classes early or during the year to ensure that they are learning in the best environment we can provide.
Our job is to help students cope with their learning disability and how best to cope with issues that each day brings. The student is at the heart of everything we do. We also like to get out and about in the community and use our skills in the real world.
Class teams work together to plan a wide range of theme based lessons that are engaging and motivating for the students in their classes. Across the team we prioritise lessons and activities that will help our pupils to develop their communication, self-help and life skills, and independence.

Secondary's theme for the summer term was Exploring England, so we had an afternoon tea party - British Values!
